Short Description
With over 15 years of sector experience in renewable energy development, I am highly skilled in managing renewable energy portfolios. Having worked at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the office of the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Millennium Development Goals (OSSAP-MDGs) both on solar-related projects as well as the USAID-funded Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Program (REEEP) where I was involved with providing technical assistance for the successful deployment of renewable energy technology projects managing the implementation of the $4 million DCA facility provided by USAID. My latter roles, first as Advisory Technical Manager on the £58 million Solar Nigeria Program (DFID funded) and later as Lead Project Manager (€30 million – EU funded version of the Solar Nigeria Program) enabled me to develop the off-grid solar market in Nigeria immensely. This I achieved through the implementation of solar for social projects for schools and clinics in Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Borno, and Adamawa states (with over 7.5MWs of installed solar power). I also worked as a renewable energy specialist with the World Bank for the setup of the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC). A center that is currently supporting innovative businesses using renewable energy to improve agriculture, energy access, etc.
Recently, I was a transaction advisor on the SUNREF Nigeria program a green fund facility worth USD 70 million to fund RE and EE projects in Nigeria. I presently lead the deployment of sustainable energy solutions for healthcare electrification under the USAID Power Africa – Nigeria Power Sector Program on behalf of the Nigeria Electrification Program of the Rural Electrification Agency.
I have been a sought-after expert on various short-term projects and consulting opportunities like the DFID-funded Africa Clean Energy project as well as the LINKS Nigeria project. I have supported organizations for impact investment in the renewable energy space in recent years. I presently work as Team Lead/ Off-grid Energy Advisor with Deloitte Consulting on the USAID Power Africa NPSP to assist project developers to present commercially viable projects for financing and develop sustainability models for healthcare electrification in Nigeria. I have deep knowledge and expertise in the off-grid solar market in Nigeria, West, and East Africa. I have formed strategic partnerships with a good number of the solar companies and financial institutions needed to scale this market in the Sub Sahara region. Overall, I provide every team I have been part of with great business and technical expertise on all projects embarked on.
